OUR STORY
Established in October 2019, we are a heartfelt not-for-profit 501(c)(3) service organization dedicated to making a positive impact on the underprivileged communities nestled within the Black Belt Region counties of Alabama. Our journey began with the vision of our founder, LaQuenna Lewis, who was driven by her unwavering passion for service and the stark realities she witnessed within poverty-stricken communities.

LaQuenna's own life experiences, marked by periods of homelessness and enduring childhood malnourishment while lacking life's basic necessities, fueled her determination to create a lifeline for community members grappling with daily challenges. At Love Is What Love Does, our primary mission is clear: to enhance the lives of disadvantaged citizens and transform their surroundings through empowering programs that promote personal growth and foster community involvement.

What initially began as a modest monthly food distribution initiative has rapidly evolved into so much more in a remarkably short span of time. Our relentless efforts have led to the establishment of vital partnerships and the expansion of our services. Today, we proudly offer senior and emergency assistance, disaster relief, and youth programs. We are especially proud of our continued success in operating a food distribution program that provides sustenance to hundreds of residents in Hale County and neighboring communities each month.

At Love Is What Love Does, we believe that love is a powerful force for positive change. Join us in our mission to make a difference in the lives of those in need and be a part of the love that drives us to act. Together, we can create a brighter future for all.
